The Salone Internazionale del Mobile is just the most important place on the planet to be if you’re a designer or even a humble furniture professional like me. From its origins in 1961, the fair has become the most important point of reference for our industry and that’s why we journey to Milan each year, to discover new trends, catch up with old friends, and soak up the buzz of Milan. With a total attendance of some 324,093 people, the fair really does have a life of its own.
Contained within these pages is our pick of the best of Milan 2013. The best stands, the best new products, the best new ideas and the future trends in styling and colour. Click here to read our 2013 Milano Report.
We’re always very excited to attend Salone Internazionale del Mobile and this year lived up to all our expectations. But we’re equally excited when the new products arrive in our showroom and look forward to sharing them with you later in the year.
Thinking tapered legs, and who isn’t these days? You’ll love the elegant Fly table, designed by Lievore Altherr Molina for Sellex. With LAM’s design it is, of course, a really versatile table. But it’s much more than that as it works in the office with large meeting tables and desks with all the standard accessories including mobile units, linking devices, divider and modesty panels and cable holders. Sellex, in their usual understated way, say of this range, “Fly is a table with smooth lines which combines sobriety with elegance”. I don’t know much about sobriety, but I do admire an elegant, tapered Spanish leg. Available in black, white and grey – samples are in our Auckland showroom now.
UFL were among thousands of design disciples from across the globe who made the annual pilgrimage to Milano for the 51st Salone del Mobile in April.
We delighted in everything on offer and now take this opportunity to share with you the latest trends and fabulous new products which were launched at the fair. Click here to read our Milano Report 2012.
Our containers are currently arriving by the day and all the new products will be in the showroom from the 1st of October. So come and sit and enjoy everything that is new and fabulous!
Venice is one of the busiest cruise ports in the Mediterranean, with some 500 ship departures and 700,000 cruise passengers per year. A new passenger building has opened at the terminal and once again, people waiting for their ship can sit in comfort on the Sellex Aero bench – which must surely be heading for the title of World’s Most Desired Bench.
Designed by Liévore Altherr Molina, Aero was specified for the first passenger building and proved so hard-wearing it was chosen for the refurbishment. The benches can seat 400 people. The Venice Cruise Terminal is located near to the four-km causeway that links the historic city with the mainland.
Over its thirty-year career, Sellex has acquired considerable experience in the contract market, equipping public areas such as universities, hospitals, hotels and airports, both in Spain and abroad.
Our world travellers at UFL Group recently visited Orgatec in Cologne, Germany to find out what’s happening in the global commercial furniture sector.
The design powerhouse Lievore Altherr Molina have recently collaborated for Sellex to produce the SLAM Chair Program. Available in five different frames including aluminium with and without armrests, steel rod and steel tube with and without armrests, and four different shells: polypropylene, beech, oak (3D treated wood) and also upholstered – the options for customisation are endless.
Our new Italian agency Arper was in full force with a permanent stand at the Design Post (www.designpostkoeln.de). This wonderful space full of clever and trendy design was populated by the true design savvy and critics. Our first Arper shipment arrives late November, so make sure you are signed by to our database to be the first to hear when it arrives. Click here to sign up.
Our Spanish friends at Enea launched their new folding table Folio, especially conceived to offer versatile solutions to the demanding contract market. The clever designed table can be dismantled, folded and stacked with ease making these tables highly adaptable to spaces as different as offices, meeting/training rooms, conference settings, settings and other multifunctional spaces.
Japanese based Axona Aichi was one of the winners of the show, presenting their new Tipo chair and Serio table, whilst also showing current favourites Daylight and the CTZ Table. Tipo was the hit for us, from polypropylene to mesh seat and backs in a selection of colours, we can’t wait for our samples and stock to arrive.
