The New School is an innovative campus in the heart of Manhattan. The interior is based around three central staircases that serve as informal breakout spaces. Andreu World have helped to shape the space within the 19,000 square feet of academic space with the Carola armchair, designed by Lievore Altherr Molina, is installed in a warm wood finish. In parallel, white Sit chairs and stools complement social spaces such as the campus cafeteria.
Michael and Annette Dearth’s award winning Auckland restaurant, The Grove, has just received a make-over at the hands of renowned hospitality designer Paul Izzard. The overall aesthetic is intimate and warm and UFL Group was delighted to be chosen to contribute furniture to the new bar and lounge areas. Izzard chose Patricia Urquiola designed Nub lounge chair and Nub sofas from Andreu World complemented by luxe marble table with brass bases for the lounge. The seating for the bar area uses Enea Lottus stools with special custom leather piping and the result complements the warm, sophisticated, fine dining experience that is The Grove.
Both fairs, Orgatec and Interieur, demonstrated how the commercial office environment is changing. Although we have observed the trend towards more collaborative working places unfolding over the past two years, here we saw a definite move towards quieter, more contemplative spaces; there will be more spaces where groups can gather, inform themselves and collaborate. And technology is becoming more integrated than ever before. Although it sounds like a dichotomy, there will be more privacy when we desire it and more public interaction when we need it.

The French Café has re-opened their doors after the Christmas break with a fresh new look thanks to the clever Katie Lockhart. UFL worked closely with head chef Simon Wright and his design savvy Restaurant Manager and wife, Creghan Molloy Wright, to select the perfect fine dining chair. Andreu World’s timber Smart chair was chosen in a dark stain to complement the new interior.
UFL represents furniture from the some of the world’s most prestigious manufacturers, so we’d like to showcase some of the inspirational installations from our friends in Europe which demonstrates the depth and versatility of product that we can also bring to our clients here. In Barcelona, Baas Arquitectura used both Arper’s Saya and Juno collections and the strong, cleans lines to great effect in their interior.
In Pistal, Austria, architect Bauschlager-Eberle complemented the timber interior of Café 3340 with the warm timber finish of the Woody chair, while in Berlin the Nub collection is used to great effect at the Das Stue Hotel.
And finally, across the Atlantic in Washington, five of our best suppliers came together at the Jaleo restaurant, with Sancal Tea dining chairs, Enea Lottus barstools, LZF Agatha suspension lamps, Andreu World Nub chairs and the M114 Green chairs.
