Busy, busy, busy! OMG, WTF (etc). Just back from Orgatec in Cologne. Yes, I know, it does sound like my life is full of travel to exotic places, but really, flying down the back of a crowded jumbo for 24 hours, running around a furniture fair for four days squeezed in among 50,000 people from over 123 countries, and then flying for 24 hours at the back of crowded jumbo again isn’t all beer and skittles. And I don’t even like beer.

Now Orgatec isn’t just bratwurst and bread rolls you know. My mission for Orgatec was to schmooz our European suppliers to discover what new product they were offering, and also to negotiate furniture items that we can make down here, and so improve our supply chain, price and speed of delivery to you, our dear clients. If that sounds like a bit of a mouthful it was, (although not as much as a bratwurst with mustard), but at Orgatec there were exciting trends and new products galore.
Spain’s Capdell has been very busy and has extended their chair collections launched at Milano to include lounge chairs of the popular models Aro, ICS, Eco and Capita.
Arper’s Team Chair was seen souring to the sky at Arper’s permanent spot at Design Post. We are loving all the new colours!
I was especially excited by a move toward the more casualised workplace – if that’s a word – with meeting spaces that feature bar leaners and array of modular furniture, just scattered about to meet the needs of the moment. Well that was just my take anyway, but alongside the fair was a formal set of presentations, with high-faultin’ titles such as “International Best Practice” and “Modern Working Concepts”, which focused on global trends in working environments.
Sellex produced their uber stylish and sleek usual stand showing off their darlings from Milano including the fabulous Aero outdoor beam in textured compact which looks just like timber and our favourite Fly table. We will soon start stocking the legs to enable you to have tables made to your specification within a few weeks.
