Missed out on the Milan fair? Watch the film above and feel as though you were there. Andreu World presented their new collections at the annual Milan Fair in April. Our favourite standout pieces were the Agora highback lounge chair and the Manfred sofas. Click here to register to receive your free copy of our Milan Report due out soon.
This year Nanimarquina launched the Natural Collection, produced with an exclusive selection of natural fibres that reflect the plurality that nature has to offer: nettle, afghan wool, silk and jute. These fibres are twisted together into continuous thread: a highly laborious manual process that enriches the design, giving each carpet a soft and unique texture. Each thread, each knot, transports us to the world where this rug began. The Natural Collection has been made using biodegradable, chemical-free cleaning products. This took Nanimarquina a step further in the fight against environmental degradation. After 25 years designing rugs, their thinking has been that true innovation lies precisely in creating rugs using what our environment gives us, like the plant that grows around us.
The complete collection will be on the website shortly.
Check out the Nub collection, designed by Patricia Urquiola, which was used at the new Kith Cafe at Quayside, Sentosa Cove, Singapore. Sensational!
We are very excited to have a New Zealand project included in Arper’s prestigious collection of selected references this year. The National Library of New Zealand was filled with Arper product last year through Warren & Mahoney in Wellington.
We will release our annual Milano Report next month showcasing all the new and delicious product launched at the annual Salone Internazionale del Mobile. In the meantime, this is a sneak peak at what’s to come.
Late last year one of our favourite design teams asked us to solve a meeting problem they were having with one of their clients. They were looking for a table system that would work in formal meeting rooms and also in more casual spaces, like the staff grazing area. Table for formal. Bar leaner for casual. Their brief was quite specific, and so, the J Series was born.
Iconic, stylish and practical. Functional, fashionable and serviceable. The J Series is all these things. The design is underpinned by the strong 50mmm tubular frame; available in either powder coat or stainless steel, and the choice of top is limited only by your imagination.
Come lean on the J Series at the UFL showroom. Just 10 minutes from downtown.
Who doesn’t like to put their feet up on the sofa at the end of a long day? Glass in hand or cat in lap – that sort of thing. On our showroom floor at present we have what must be the big daddy of all sofas – the Loop Sofa from Arper in Italy, designed by our favourite design team of Lievore, Altherr, Molina. Although this sofa is designed for both domestic and commercial use in a two and three seater version, we stock only the El Grande, the super-sized biggy – a whoppingly almost five metre long sofa that is glorious in its bigness. It’s also stylish, practical and its modular versatility means it has great applications for waiting areas and reception spaces. Anywhere really where you need an elegant solution to park a group of people. You could even put your feet up at the end of a long day!
Thinking tapered legs, and who isn’t these days? You’ll love the elegant Fly table, designed by Lievore Altherr Molina for Sellex. With LAM’s design it is, of course, a really versatile table. But it’s much more than that as it works in the office with large meeting tables and desks with all the standard accessories including mobile units, linking devices, divider and modesty panels and cable holders. Sellex, in their usual understated way, say of this range, “Fly is a table with smooth lines which combines sobriety with elegance”. I don’t know much about sobriety, but I do admire an elegant, tapered Spanish leg. Available in black, white and grey – samples are in our Auckland showroom now.
