An original oil and vinegar container by Rafael Marquina, designed in 1961 – this year we are celebrating the 50th anniversary.
This is a definitive piece that has won the hearts of many discerning designers and has become one of the most emblematic products in the history of Spanish design. The Marquina 1961 oil and vinegar container reinterprets a daily use object, in this case from the Mediterranean tradition, and ingeniously and efficiently solves the problem of drips. It is a clear example of how objects evolve under the aegis of design.
The chair Green, designed by legendary Spanish designer Javier Mariscal, is a project created to improve the quality of life and planet preservation. Constructed of 100% recycled plastic scrapes and 100% recyclable, this is the environmental ‘it’ chair of 2011.
Fresh from the halls of Milano was Patricia Urquiola’s most talked about Nub collection. Designed for Andreu World, this attractive line of sofas and chairs with natural wood structures offer multiple color combinations and options for both their frames and upholstery.
Patricia Urquiola describes Nub as “an emotive object, an element of my memory located in the context of my infancy, when I used to play with the bobbins that my grandmother used when she was making lace. These small wooden bars were playmates, which I have revised and redesigned in order to provide a base for the search for successive typologies. I always incorporate my domestic, private and past lives into my projects”.
Nub goes into production later this year and is one special piece we can’t wait to get our hands on it.
Sancal impressed again with a series of new products to satisfy any discerning customer. Our favourite was the Folk Sofa.
Folk flees minimalism to delight in the attention to detail: seams, quilting, embroidery, sinuous shapes and other decorative elements. Thanks to the height, the back tilt and the softness of the pillows, Rafa Garcia has managed to create a seat that hugs you. Folk will be arriving in New Zealand sometime soon – and we just can’t wait!
Woody and Moody are the two new seating programs created by Lievore Altherr Molina for Andreu World.
Produced in oak, they combine traditional wood construction techniques with a contemporary language. Both collections feature absolute simplicity with straight and geometric lines, with the added warmth of natural wood, making both Woody and Moody the perfect answer for both home and contract.
